How do I use Respondus Monitor for a Canvas quiz?

Respondus Monitor runs inside Respondus LockDown Browser, so you'll need LockDown Browser installed before you can use Monitor for a quiz.

Note: Respondus LockDown Browser does not work on Chromebook, Android, iOS, Kindle, or similar devices. You'll need a Windows or Mac computer to take a quiz that requires Monitor.

  1. Install Respondus LockDown Browser if you haven't already.

How do I check to make sure I have the most updated version of Respondus downloaded, and how can I update Respondus?

  1. Close all programs on your computer.
  2. Open LockDown Browser.
  • Windows: Click the LockDown Browser icon.
  • Mac: Click LockDown Browser in the Applications folder.

       4. Log in to Canvas using your NinerNET credentials.

       5. Go to your course and start the quiz.

Note: Set aside extra time—Respondus Monitor setup (webcam check, ID verification, etc.) takes longer than starting a standard quiz.

       6. When LockDown Browser with Monitor opens, click Accept on the Terms of Use page.

      7. Follow the on-screen instructions for each remaining setup step (webcam check, environment scan, ID capture, etc.).
