CCI Poster Printing Service

Poster printing is available as a service to College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) Faculty/Staff for use with academic projects and events.  CCI students can also make use of poster printing with CCI Faculty/Staff approval.

Please note we are unable to offer expedited request options. Carefully review the timelines and information below to ensure your poster request can be completed to meet your needs. The on-campus FedEx Office Print Center also offers poster printing services as an alternative.

How do I print a poster?

You can submit a request via the online portal at help.charlotte.edu.    The CCI Poster Printing section under the Service Catalog includes a button for "CCI Poster Printing." Click to open up a submission form and provide all requested information.   In the 'Description'  section indicate that you're requesting a CCI poster print and use the 'Attachment' link to upload the formatted poster file(s) to be printed (review file type and poster sizing guidelines below).  If you're a student, include the name of the faculty/staff member you are working with on the poster and how the poster will be used. You will be asked to acknowledge the review of this FAQ and its guidelines upon submission. Review and approval from the faculty/staff member may be required before the request can be processed.

What type of file do I need to attach?

Attach a PDF file for print with your desired dimensions.  The preferred size is 30" x 40".  The maximum size we can print on the shorter dimension is 40", the width of the paper roll.    PDFs in letter size (8.5" x 11") will not be printed as it will pixelate when stretched to fit.   Why a PDF?  The Portable Document Format is a self contained file that most accurately reflects the end document. It includes all required fonts, dimensions and images used in the printing process. Note: You should always use vector images in your original documents as they resize without any adverse effects.

Can I print in color?

Yes. We do request that you be mindful of the amount of color used in your poster and try to make use of white space as much as possible. This reduces the overall amount of ink needed, prevents smearing of ink during the printing process, and also allows for faster printing.

General Lead Time Requirements For Submissions

Single Poster Request 2 Business Days (48 Hours)
Batch Poster Request (Up to 10 Posters) 3 - 5 Business Days
Batch Poster Request (Greater than 10 Posters) Contact the CCI IT Director (Up to 10 Business Days)

How long does it take to print a single poster?

Requests for single poster printing need to be received with at least 2 full business days of lead time (48 hours).    For example, a Wednesday AM poster should be received by Monday, and Friday AM is the submission target to have a poster printed for Tuesday AM.   If a request can be fulfilled before then you will be notified of availability for pickup.  Why does it take two business days?  Print processing depends on the availability of staff, other service requests, and the number of other print requests in the queue.   A large number of poster print requests can be received in a short amount of time.   Please submit your poster as early as possible to allow for adequate processing and print time.

How long does it take to print a batch of posters?

For multi-poster printing events such as end of year CCI class poster sessions, the class instructor or one of the TAs should preview and collect the individual poster documents and submit them in batches (up to 10) four or five business days before they are needed. For batches greater than 10 posters, please reach out in advance to the CCI IT Director regarding timelines, as these requests may require additional time for processing (7-10 business days).

There is a white border on the poster, why isn't this cut?

We provide printing services only.   We print the file as provided with no modifications.   Note:  If you use a size of 31.5" x 40", there will be a minimal amount of white space left on the printed poster.

Where can I pick up my printed poster?

Printed posters are available for pick-up in Woodward 313. We recommend you schedule an appointment with our team for your pickup.

Are there poster printing alternatives on campus if I need a poster printed faster or with additional service options?

The FedEx Office Print Center, located in Prospector, offers several services such as wide format printing and foam board mounting with fees posted on their website.
