How do I install SPSS on a personally owned computer?

NOTE:  SPSS software is available for research and educational purposes only.

Windows Mac
  1. Go to software.charlotte.edu
  2. Click Sign In
  3. Log in with your NinerNET credentials
  4. Click Start shopping

  5. Click on the IBM SPSS Statistics tile
  6. Select your Operating System
  7. Click Add to Cart

  9. Click Download

  10. Click Download

    NOTE:  The SPSS installation file is huge.  You will want to make sure you have broadband internet connectivity before downloading.

  11. After the download completes, double-click the downloaded file
  12. The InstallShield Wizard application will open.  Click I accept the terms in the license agreement. and click Next

  13. Click Next to the default installation destination folder

  14. IBM SPSS Statistics 30 will be installed

  15. When completed, click Finish

  11. After the download completes, double-click the downloaded file - click Continue

  12. Verify the location of the installation and click Continue
    Click Continue
  13. Click Install
    Click Install
  14. Once installation begins, you will need to allow it to continue - choose "Use Password"
    Authenticate to your Mac
  15. When prompted, Enter the username and password that was used to login to the Mac then click Install Software

  16. Click Move to Trash to get rid of the installation files
  17. SPSS will be available on your dock or in your Applications folder
  18. If your device is running MacOS Sonoma 14.0, follow the process outlined in SPSS Fix for MacOS Sonoma 14.0 after completing this initial installation.
If you receive a license prompt when starting IBM SPSS Statistics, do the following... 

  1. Launch IBM SPSS 30 - you will be presented with a licensing window - choose Launch License Wizard

  2. The SPSS Licensing window will open -  Click Next on the License Status window
  3. Select Authorized user license and click Next

  4. Enter the following code in the Enter Code: field and click Next

  5. Click Finish
