How does a host turn on AI Companion in a Zoom meeting?

Only meeting hosts can start or stop AI Companion through in-meeting controls. Attendees receive a notification but if they don't want Zoom AI Companion used, they need to notify the host directly; click off the notification won't do anything.

First, ensure that AI Companion is enabled in your Zoom settings:

  • Log into the University’s Zoom web portal at zoom.charlotte.edu using your NinerNet credentials  
    • Click on Settings in the menu to the left
    • Open the AI Companion tab
    • Ensure that the Meeting Summary, AI Companion Questions, Smart Recording, and Whiteboard Content Generation features are enabled

    >   Any disabled features will need to be enabled before you will be able to use them in future meetings

AI Enabled 

  • Turn on Meeting Summary with AI Companion in your meeting:

    • Click Settings
    • Click the AI Companion tab
    • Under Meeting, toggle the Meeting Summary with AI Companion tab to enable

  • Turn on in-meeting questions with AI Companion in your meeting:

    • Click Settings
    • Click the AI Companion tab
    • Under Meeting, toggle the AI Companion Questions tab to enable 

AI Questions

  • Turn on Smart Recording with AI Companion in your meeting:

    • Click Settings
    • Click the AI Companion tab
    • Under Recording, toggle the Smart Recording with AI Companion tab to enable

AI Smart Recording

During your meeting, turn on the AI Companion tools that you want to use:

  1. Click on AI Companion then Ask Meeting Questions in the meeting toolbar to enable In-Meeting Questions
  2. Click Start Summary to enable the meeting summary tool
