Who has admin rights on computers using the new Dell experience?

  • Administrative rights allows a logged on user to install software from the Company portal or the internet.
  • To enhance security under the new Windows device management approach, we are updating admin rights for certain types of computers. See the table below.
Type Admin Rights
Faculty/Staff Single User Faculty/Staff
Shared Department Computers (Student employees, Grad students, PhD, specialized equipment) Users do not have admin rights; if admin rights are needed, complete this request form.
Classroom Podiums OneIT  & Learning Space Technology Technicians
Teaching Lab     OneIT Technicians
Shared student use computers (e.g. Library) OneIT Technicians
Primary user and any authorized users (see Shared Device Admin Request)
Library Student Loaners Students/Faculty/Staff/OneIT Technicians
Kiosks / Signage OneIT and Learning Space Technology Technicians
Research and Research Lab  Primary researcher and any authorized users (see Request Research Computer)
