How to Sign In to ArcGIS CityEngine Using a Browser and Duo

What You Need Before You Start

  • A computer with ArcGIS CityEngine installed

  • An active NinerNET username and password

  • A mobile device with the Duo Mobile app set up for Multi-Factor Authentication

Steps to Complete the Task

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open ArcGIS CityEngine on your computer.

  2. In the sign-in dialog box, select Sign in using a browser.

  3. When your browser opens to the ArcGIS login page, choose Your ArcGIS organization's URL.

  4. Type unccharlotte into the URL field and click Continue.

  5. On the Charlotte Single Sign-On (SSO) page, enter your NinerNET username and password.

  6. When prompted by Duo Multi-Factor Authentication, approve the login request on your mobile device.

  7. Return to the ArcGIS CityEngine application once your browser displays the message: "Sign in from CityEngine complete, You can close this tab." ArcGIS Online will automatically assign your license and complete the sign-in process.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Browser doesn’t open?
    Copy the URL from CityEngine and paste it manually into your browser.

  • Duo issues?
    Make sure your phone has internet access and Duo Mobile is installed.

  • Wrong portal?
    In CityEngine, go to File > ArcGIS Options > Portals and set unccharlotte.maps.arcgis.com as the active portal.
