How do I update my Canvas course(s) to comply with the new Syllabus policy?

Background

Effective Fall 2026, the Syllabus link in Canvas courses should only contain content covering the six mandated syllabus requirements. 

  1. Syllabus date
  2. Course information
  3. Course description
  4. List of all course materials required for purchase
  5. Grading policies, methods of evaluation, and performance expectations
  6. Non-endorsement statement

What do I do? 

1. Review the UNC Charlotte Academic Procedure: Undergraduate and Graduate Syllabus Requirements and Guidance webpage for specific details.

2. Edit the Syllabus link (see image below) in your course(s) to contain content covering the 6 areas outlined above per University guidance. 

3. Create a New Canvas Page that covers any optional course information.
