How do I check to make sure I have the most updated version of Respondus downloaded, and how can I update Respondus?

Respondus LockDown Browser updates frequently. Ensuring your version is up to date is your responsibility as a student. An outdated version may interfere with your ability to take Canvas quizzes.

Respondus LockDown Browser includes a built-in version check. Follow the steps below for your operating system.

Windows:

  1. Open Respondus LockDown Browser
  2. Select the "i" icon on the toolbar
  3. Select "Check for Newer Version"
  4. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it

Mac:

  1. Open Respondus LockDown Browser
  2. Select "About" on the toolbar
  3. Select "Check for Update"
  4. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it

If "Check for Newer Version" does not recognize a newer release, reinstall Respondus LockDown Browser using the full installation program through your Canvas quiz. Reinstalling ensures you have the current version, since Respondus LockDown Browser does not update automatically on its own.
