How do I install MatLab on my personal or university-owned Mac computer?

What You Need Before You Start

  • An active NinerNET account

  • Your Charlotte university email address

  • Your Mac computer's local administrator password (to approve the installation)

Steps to Complete the Task

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Go to software.charlotte.edu

  2. Under ‘Sign in via’ click NinerNET

  3. Log in with your NinerNET credentials

  4. Click Search apps and search for ‘ChemDraw’ or click View all apps at the bottom of the page

  5. Hover over or click on the ChemDraw tile

  6. Click the drop-down arrow and then click Download Matlab

  7. Click Continue and it will proceed to the Mathworks website

  8. Click Sign in to get started

  9. Click Create Account

  10. Your email address, first/last name and School/University (at bottom) will be populated - enter the other required information:

    1. Create a password following the system requirements

    2. Select Location (Country)

    3. Select Department - if your department is not specifically listed, choose other in appropriate category

    4. Select What describes your role?

  11. Check the "I accept the Online Services Agreement" checkbox

  12. Click Create

  13. On the MathWorks web page, click on the Install MATLAB button

  14. Click again on Download for Windows (macOS and Linux versions available by clicking dropdown)

  15. Run the installer file that you downloaded to your computer - if prompted, enter your local password (macOS) and approve any installation approvals

  16. Enter your email and password you created in step #11 at the prompts during installation

  17. Agree and click Next

  18. Choose and highlight the license associated with the version you downloaded - click Next

  19. Fill in the required spaces and click Next

  20. Install Matlab in default location - click Next

  21. On Select Products window, leave defaults and click Next

  22. On Options window, leave defaults and click Next

  23. Begin install and click to continue installation process if prompted and Finish when complete

  • Student Employees: If you are a student employee or researcher who needs MATLAB for your work, please consult with your supervisor to get a university-owned device.
