How do I install SAS 9.4 on my personal computer?

What You Need Before You Start

  • A personal computer compatible with SAS 9.4 system requirements.

  • At least 60 GB of free hard drive space.

  • Your NinerNET login credentials.

  • Alternative Option: The SAS 9.4 installation can take several hours to complete depending on your system. The University strongly encourages you to access SAS virtually through Apporto instead of installing it locally.

Steps to Complete the Task

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Go to software.charlotte.edu.

  2. Under 'Sign in via', click NinerNET

  3. Log in using your NinerNET credentials.

  4. Click Search apps and search for "SAS" (or click View all apps at the bottom of the page).

  5. Hover over or click on the SAS tile.

  6. Click the drop-down arrow and choose both Download SAS and Download License. 

  7. Once the main application download is oomplete, make sure that the file size is approximately 30 GB by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Properties.

  8. Unzip the SAS_9.4_MR7_2026 ZIP file. If the zipped file is on a USB drive, make sure you unzip it directly to a location on the local hard drive where you plan to install it.

  9. Open the newly created folder and extract the downloaded SAS94.TXT license file inside the sid_files directory.

  10. Double-click setup.exe to start the installation.

  11. In the Choose Language box, click OK.

  12. On the Select Deployment Task screen, leave Install SAS software selected and click Next.

  13. On the next screen, is is recommended to use the default installation location. Otherwise, choose a custom location, then click Next.

  14. On the Select Deployment Type screen, select Install SAS Foundation and Related Software and click Next.

  15. Click Next on the next thirteen screens. Crucial: Uncheck JMP Genomics on the Select Products to Install screen before clicking Next.

  16. On the Deployment Summary screen, click Start. (

    • Note: If you receive any "Install Failure" notifications, click Yes to All to continue.

  17. Once the installation is complete, click Next.

  18. On the Select Support Option screen, choose whether or not to send system information to SAS, then click Next.

  19. Click Finish.

Important Notes or Exceptions

  • The SAS 9.4 installation can take several hours to install, depending on your system.  We encourage faculty and students to access SAS through Apporto.

  • Before attempting to download SAS, please verify your system is compatible with SAS 9.4 system requirements and that you have at least 60GB of hard drive space free.
