Can employees transfer their Google Drive files to a personal account when leaving the University?

Before leaving the University:
  1. Work files should not be transferred to a personal account; but, the ownership of the file should be changed to a supervisor or other responsible University employee - follow this FAQ for instructions on changing the owner of a Google Doc/Sheet/Slide
  2. After work file ownership is transferred, personal files can be copied from your University account to a personal Google account - follow this FAQ for instructions on transferring personal files

If an employee has left the University and ownership was not transferred, the supervisor should contact the IT Service Desk, (704) 687-5500 to have ownership of the Drive transferred. If the former employee is still at the University, contact the former employee to discuss change of ownership of appropriate files.
