How many phone reference checks am I required to complete for the hiring proposal?

1. Internal hire candidates
Promotions, reassignments, or lateral moves for current UNCC employees need
one
phone reference check from their current supervisor
If the internal hire candidate currently reports to the hiring manager, a phone reference check is not required
You should also contact
Human Resources Records Management
to review the internal candidate's annual performance reviews to identify any positive or adverse comments concerning their performance or behavior
2. New hire candidates
Require at least
two
phone reference checks from current/previous supervisors/employers
If the references provide dates of employment only, or a supervisor reference is not given, contact your HR Consultant for advice
