What is the difference between the Learning and Development Portal and Percipio and how do they work together?

Tell Me

Below are some "fast facts" to help you understand the difference between the Learning and Development Portal and Percipio and how these systems work together.

  • You can access Percipio content from the Learning and Development Portal (L&D Portal), but you cannot access L&D Portal content from Percipio.
  • The two systems may be accessed independently from one another. Students, faculty and staff have access to Percipio and the L&D Portal.
  • In the L&D Portal, ALL professional development activity is consolidated on the transcript including external conferences, seminars, certifications, CEUs, and academic degrees earned.
  • The L&D Portal is a "learning management system" designed for training administration. It integrates with Banner to make it easy for managers or training program administrators to assign, track, and report on training by division, department, classification, position type, etc. Percipio is a "learning engagement platform" - a massive library of online learning content (over 40,000 videos, books, and online learning) designed to suggest learning and keep learners engaged, similar to the "look" and functionality of Netflix. (Learning content can also be assigned within Percipio.)
  • The first 9 minutes of this recorded webinar provide a good overview of the functionality of the Learning and Development Portal and how it integrates Percipio.

NOTE: Percipio is an extensive library of content that is provided as a convenience and for information purposes only. The university is not responsible for the content and does not endorse, support, or make any representations or warranties regarding their content or accuracy.

The table below provides a comparison of the two systems' functionality. Red indicates differences and green indicates similarities.
