How do I submit a Turnitin SimCheck assignment in Canvas?

 
  1. In your course, click the Turnitin SimCheck assignment link. The assignment page is displayed
  2. Click Submit Assignment. The page updates and the file submission area is located at the bottom of the page

  3. Verify that the File Upload tab is active
  4. In the File area, click Browse
    In the File area, click Browse
  5. Navigate to the folder were the file is stored and select it. The file is attached to the assignment
  6. Select the Turnitin SimCheck pledge check box
  7. Click Submit Assignment

    NOTE:  SimCheck only processes 1 file per submission. Only upload 1 file per assignment. Contact your instructor about uploading multiple files

  8. Verification of your submission is displayed in the upper right corner

    1. The following is displayed when you miss the assignment due date and time. Contact your instructor about the possibility of reopening the assignment for you

  9. Click the Submission Details link. A page with the file link and date and time of your submission is displayed

  10. Depending on the size of your paper, it may take up to 24 hours to generate the Similarity score report. Once the score is generated, you will see a percentage bubble on the Submission details page. The color of the score bubble is based on the amount of matching text in a document:
    1. Light blue color: 0% matching text
    2. Dark blue color: 1 - 24% matching text
    3. Yellow color: 25 - 49% matching text
    4. Orange color: 50 - 74% matching text
    5. Red color: 75 - 100% matching text

  11. Click the percentage bubble to generate the report

    NOTE:  If you file does not process it is because you used a template that SimCheck does not recognize. To fix, save your file as a PDF and resubmit to the assignment. 

  12. If this is your first time accessing a similarity report, click Accept to agree to the license agreement

  13. The report is generated on a new tab
  14. The matched sources are displayed on the right side of the page, in the Sources Overview pane
  15. The sources are highlighted in the paper
