How do I specify that students use the Respondus LockDown Browser in a Canvas quiz?

You can specify to use the Respondus LockDown Browser with a Canvas quiz. To do so, create the quiz as usual and use the Respondus tool to set up the requirements

NOTE:  If students are employees of UNC Charlotte, they will need to authenticate using their phone or tablet via DUO

  1. Click the quiz link
  2. On the left side of the page, click the LockDown Browser link

  3. In the list, click the drop-down icon for the quiz you want to set up

  4. Choose Modify Settings

  5. Select the option to Require Respondus LockDown Browser 

  6. Click the Advanced Settings link

  7. If you want students to be able to use a screen reader, select the 
  8. Enter the usernames of the students who you want to have access to a screen reader

    NOTE:  If you leave this area blank, everyone in the course can use a screen reader. However, if you only want specific students to use a screen reader, you must enter the student's NinerNET user name

  9. Select any other options you want to enable for the quiz
    1. If you want to use Respondus Monitor, scroll to view the Proctoring section and select Require Respondus Monitor for this exam
    2. Select any other options you want

      NOTE:  All new and transfer students have their 49er IDs on their phones. If you select the Show ID option, these students will use their cell phones to dispalay their 49er IDs. You should instruct students to turn off and remove their cell phones before the Environment Check step.

  10. Click Save and Close
