How do instructors upload a quiz from Respondus Exam into Canvas?

When you are ready to upload your quiz from Respondus into your Canvas course you will need to publish the quiz using the Publish Wizard. 

NOTE:  Make sure you have the most recent version of Respondus. To check for updates, open Respondus, go to Help, then Check for Update. If an update is available, you will be prompted to update

  1. Open your created quiz in Respondus
  2. Access the Preview & Publish Tab
  3. At the top of the application, click the Preview + Publish tab

  4. On the left, click the Publish to Canvas link

  5. Click Publish to Canvas to start the upload process

  6. Choose the type of upload you want to perform. By default Publish to single course is selected
  7. If you have not designated a server, you must do so before proceeding. In the Canvas Server: drop-down list, select -add new server-
    If you have setup the Canvas Server, choose the server name in the drop down list and click Next, and skip to step 13

  8. Select No, I want to enter the server Settings manually
  9. Click Next

  10. Enter the following on the Instructure Canvas Server Settings window
    1. Enter the URL: https://uncc.instructure.com/ into the box
    2. Click Extract to automatically fill in the Server connection URL information
    3. In the Description text box, type a name for the server. example: Canvas Server
    4. In the User name text box, type your NinerNET user name
    5. In the Password text box, type your NinerNET password
    6. Click OK

  12. If you are not already logged into Canvas, the Web Authentication page will display.  Enter your NinerNET ID and password
  13. Click Log In
  14. Click Authorize on the Respondus Quiz Builder screen

    1. If the Script Error dialog box is displayed, click Yes to continue the process

  15. On the Publish Wizard window select the following:

    2. Select assignment type: Graded Quiz
    3. Specify server action and item name: select Create and enter the quiz name
    4. Select Other options if desired
    5. Click Next

  16. Select your course from the list of courses and click Next

  17. As the quiz is being uploaded, you will see a series of results. When the message Publish Completed successfully is displayed, the quiz has been uploaded into your Canvas course(s)
  18. Click Finish to close the Publish Wizard

  19. Open your Canvas course and preview the quiz
