- The university receives millions of "SPAM" emails daily. SPAM presents a significant security risk. Several systems are in place, including Google SPAM filters, to help identify SPAM.
- Identifying whether or not an email is SPAM through Gmail only works for Gmail SPAM filtering system not all the systems.
- To best ensure that email gets properly labeled as SPAM or not SPAM and delivered to the inbox, you should set up a filter.
In order to permanently prevent an email from going to Spam, you can create a filter.
NOTE: Clicking "Not Spam" while in a message will move that individual email to your Inbox not all emails received from the sender.
- While in Gmail, go to Spam
- Open the message you want to filter
- Click the More button, then Filter messages like these

- A Google Search window will open with the email address of the sender in the From field - click Create filter

- In the filter box, check Never send it to Spam, then Create filter
