Do I have to get rid of my desk phone?

Maybe. We have adopted a softphone-first mindset to maximize Zoom phone capability. Softphone means that you will use a Zoom Phone App on either your computer or mobile device in lieu of a physical desk phone.

  • The primary phone service will be through the Zoom app. However, physical desk phones may make sense in certain situations (ie: phones for student workers, shared workplace phones, special accessibility needs, etc).
  • If a physical desk phone is needed either for a department or for an individual, please submit a service desk ticket to Request a Physical Phone for Existing Line.
  • Physical phones that are no longer needed will be collected, please contact the service desk for more information.
