When does a university computer need to be replaced?

  • The exact process for each division varies; some divisions like Academic Affairs and Business Affairs, centrally manage the replacement. Other divisions like Student Affairs and Academic Affairs delegate the replacement out to departments. 
  • Computer replacements for part time staff, student employees, grad assistants, researchers and research labs vary depending on department funding.
  • If a computer breaks and it is more than 4 years old, the department will be responsible for the replacement.
