Does Copilot with data protection integrate with Word, PowerPoint or Excel?

  • Unfortunately no, to use Copilot with Word, PowerPoint or Excel, another license (Microsoft Copilot Add-on) needs to be purchased.
  • This additional license costs ~$300 annually per license
  • As of Spring 2025, Microsoft does not offer a way for individuals or departments to buy the Copilot Add-on directly so this option is not available to the UNC Charlotte community.
  • However, data can be copied and pasted into Copilot with data protection from these software packages. The data could then be modified using a prompt and pasted back into the original document. (Always keep in mind the level of data when doing this).
