The Office of OneIT is piloting the use of NotebookLM as part of the University’s Google for Education environment. Only members of the pilot group have access at this time.
  • NotebookLM is based on Gemini and, therefore, is not approved for use with any confidential (Level 2) or highly restricted (Level 3) University data. See Guideline for Data Handling.

  • Student education records are considered Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and as such, you should not use Gemini or any AI tools with any information involving student education record data.

  • Do not use NotebookLM or Gemini or any other AI tools for protected health information (PHI), or data subject to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

  • Take time to familiarize yourself with the current UNC Charlotte data retention policies when using AI tools and applications.
