How do I add a file/folder to my University Dropbox account?

  1. Sign in to your University Dropbox account at https://dropbox.charlotte.edu/.
  2. Click Upload and then select File or Folder.
  3. Find the file you wish to upload to your University Dropbox account
    1. This can be on your computer (desktop, C drive), your personal network drive (H), or on your personal Dropbox account (if you've setup Dropbox Sync App and have used the personal account to store work files)
    2. When remotely accessing files on network drives, ensure you are connected to the vpn.
    3. Files and folders uploaded from network shared drives (S/J) should be added to the respective Dropbox shared folders for your area.
  4. Select the file(s) or folder and then select Open or Upload to add the file to your account.
    1. You may also use the the drag and drop option to add the file into your University Dropbox account
    2. You should see a notice along the top of your Dropbox account stating to drop the file to upload it
  5. Repeat the process for every file you wish to upload to Dropbox
  6. When finished, delete all uploaded files from your computer (desktop, C drive, H drive, personal Dropbox account).

  2. Find the file or folder you wish to move to your University Dropbox account
    1. This can be on your computer (desktop, C drive), your personal network drive (H), or on your personal Dropbox account (if you've setup Dropbox Sync App and have used the personal account to store work files)
    2. When remotely accessing files on network drives, ensure you are connected to the vpn.
    3. Files and folders uploaded from network shared drives (S/J) should be added to the respective Dropbox shared folders for your area.
  3. Select the file/folder
  4. Drag and drop the file/folder into your University Dropbox account folder
    1. You should see a note asking Move to Dropbox (UNC Charlotte)
    2. If you see Copy to Dropbox (UNC Charlotte), follow these steps:
      1. Go to file menu and select Move to folder...
      2. Browse to your Dropbox (UNC Charlotte) folder and select it
  5. Repeat the process for everything you wish to move to Dropbox

TIP:  Want to upload/move multiple files or folders at the same time? Select them all at once using the Shift or Control/Command keys and then drag/drop into Dropbox. Just remember that the more files you select at once, the longer it will take to upload/move them.
