How do I set up Windows Hello?

With the exception of the College of Engineering, beginning April 2025, the University will manage Windows-based computers, such as newly issued Dell computers, using Windows Azure Cloud Join to provide a more efficient and secure process for managing these university-issued devices. As part of this change Windows Hello will be available on new computers issued April 2025 and later.

Windows Hello Setup

  1. After the Account Setup completes, the system will automatically prompt to begin Windows Hello setup
    Restart your computer if this prompt does not appear automatically.

  2. If your device supports Biometrics (face recognition), you will now be prompted to set them up:
    NOTE: Not all devices support these options and instead, you will only be able to create a PIN 

    1. Face Recognition
      want to use your face to sign in faster and more securely?

  3. Approve the 2-Factor authentication Prompt 

    1. You will see:
      Duo connector redirect

    2. Click Continue, verify using Duo.

  4. Set up a PIN for your device.
    The PIN must be at least 6 characters and can be a mix of numbers and upper and lowercase letters.

  5. Finally, your device will return you to the desktop
