New Canvas Quizzes allow instructors to set individual accommodations for students, such as extended time or additional attempts, in alignment with documented accommodation plans provided by the Office of Disability Services (ODS).
These settings can be managed on the Moderate tab in the New Quiz. Follow the steps below to learn more about the settings and your options:
1. Locate the Quizzes menu item in the left-hand navigation of your Canvas Course

2. Identify and click on a quiz to open it.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the New Quiz Details tab and click on the green Build button.

4. You are on the Build tab. There are other tabs: Settings, Moderate, Reports, and Exports. Click on the Moderate tab.

5. You will see your students listed under the Moderate tab. Next to each student's name, you can see how many Attempts they have on the quiz, their Score(s), how much Time has been allotted to the quiz, how much time they have Logged, and if you have set any Accommodations for the student.

6. There are two Moderation menus here: ONE that opens when you click on the student's name, called "Course Accommodation," and ONE that opens when you click on the "edit pencil" to the right of the student's name, called "Current Quiz Accommodation." We will look at each one individually.
7. The first moderation menu appears when you click on the Student's Name, and the Course Accommodation menu will appear. The settings on this menu apply to all quizzes in this course.
Items you are able to accommodate include: 1) Time, 2) Reduced Answer Choices, and the ability to 3) Apply these changes to in-progress quiz attempts as well.

8. With respect to options on time, you can 1) Give Additional Time (set amount you choose), Remove time limit (unlimited), or set a Time Limit multiplier (for example 2x the amount of time the quiz is set for already).

9. The second moderation menu appears when you click on the "Edit Pencil" (see image below) to the right of the student's Name, and the Current Quiz Accommodation menu appears.

10. The Current Quiz Accommodation menu includes settings that apply to the current quiz only, including in-progress attempts. The options here are similar to the other menu (Additional Attempts, Time Adjustments, and Reduced Answer Choices), but they only apply to the current quiz you are editing the settings for.
