How do I complete the Banner security audit?

What You Need to know before You Start

  • Audit Email: You will receive a notification email once the Banner Audit begins.

  • Access Link: Use the specific link provided in that email to access the audit portal.

  • Access Levels: 

    • View means the user has View Only access

    • Update means the user may be able to modify, update, or just simply filter

  • Banner Form Descriptions: Use these links to if you need more info on the class description for each module: 

 

Steps to Complete the Banner Audit

As a supervisor, you must review and confirm access for your employees before the audit period closes:

  • Access the portal: Click the link provided in your notification email.

  • Select an employee: Choose a staff member from the drop-down list.

  • Choose an action:

    • To maintain all current access, click KEEP ALL.

    • To remove all current access, click REVOKE ALL.

    • To remove specific permissions, select Revoke to the right of the individual Class and click Next.

  • Submit: Verify your selections and click Submit.

Important Notes

  • Audit Schedule: This process occurs twice a year: once in the fall for Finance security classes and once in the spring for all security classes.

  • Compliance: This audit is required by the State and the University’s Internal Audit Office to ensure data access compliance.

  • Deadlines: If you do not complete confirmations before the period closes, the employee’s account will be temporarily locked.

  • Regaining Access: If an account is locked,  you must contact the Banner module owner to follow the necessary steps for restoration
