How do I prepare large files to print to Ricoh (PrintRepros) printers in the Library?

  1. Save pics and art work as Tiff

“Save As…” or “Export” pics and artwork (from Photoshop, CAD or 3D rendering apps) in TIFF format (or JPG/JPEG if Tiff is not an option) before placing in the final layout document

    • Choose File > Save As…or Export

    • Rename the file

    • For Format select TIFF

    • Deselect “As a Copy”

    • Deselect (disable) “Layers” option

    • Save

    • Leave Image Compression as “None” (default)

    • Import/place new Tiff into your document

       2.  Save MS Word docs as PDF

    • Choose File > Save As…
    • In “File format” select PDF
    • Select “Best for printing” option
    • Export

       3.  Save Adobe Indesign docs as PDF

    • Choose File > Export.
    • In “Format” select “Adobe PDF (Print)”
    • Save
    • Set Adobe PDF Preset as “[High Quality Print]”
    • Export

        4.  Save Adobe Illustrator docs as PDF

    • Choose File > Export > Export As….
    • Change “Format” to “Tiff (tif)”
    • Export
    • Change Resolution to “Medium (150 ppi)”
    • OK
Note: Saving your Adobe Illustrator files as TIFF automatically flattens artwork/layers, which greatly improves printing performance

         5.  If your job still does not print there may be other issues with your printer.
