How do I change my default browser in Windows 11?

The default browser on a Windows 11 computer will be Microsoft Edge.  Use the following instructions if you want to change to a different browser like Google Chrome or Firefox.

  1. Type Default Apps in the Windows search
  2. Click the Default Apps search result
    Search for Default Apps
  3. Scroll down to Microsoft Edge - a "Set default file types or link types" view will open

  4. Click on .htm
  5. Select the browser you would like to use and click OK

  6. If you are prompted with a "Before you switch" message, click Switch Anyway

  7. Repeat steps 5 & 6 for .html, HTTP, HTTPS, & MAILTO
