How do I connect to the UNC Charlotte VPN?

  1. If you are using a personal computer, download and install the Cisco Secure Client then follow the steps below.
  2. If you are using a University computer, the Cisco Secure Client is already installed on the computer.

  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Cisco > Cisco Secure Client
  2. Click Cisco Secure Client to launch the application

  3. Enter vpn.uncc.edu into the AnyConnect VPN section of the Cisco Secure Client - click Connect

  4. The University's Single Sign On will open - enter your NinerNET username and password; click Log In and authenticate to Duo
  5. After authenticated, the Cisco Secure Client will display in the System Tray, bottom right near the sound and wifi icons, with a lock icon to show you are connected

  6. To disconnect, follow these instructions
  1. Go to your Applications folder and open the Cisco Secure Client

  4. The Cisco Secure Client will display in the upper-right side of the menu bar, with a lock icon to show you are connected

WARNING: When connected to the VPN, you will lose access to all local assets (network printers, network storage devices, etc..) and you may not have access to some services. If you require additional specialized access, contact your direct supervisor to request the specific services (IP address and port numbers that you need) and submit a request to the IT Service Desk, 704-687-5500.
