How do I record a Zoom Meeting and save it to my Library in Canvas Studio?

This article will show those using Zoom in Canvas how to record their meeting, download it from Zoom, and upload it into their Canvas Studio Library. 

This assumes you have already Created a Zoom Meeting in your Canvas course
  1. Access the course in Canvas where you have scheduled a Zoom meeting
  2. Click on Zoom in the left-side navigation
  3. Click on the Start button for the meeting you wish to record

  4. Your meeting will begin to launch. Depending on the browser used, you may be prompted to click Open Zoom Meetings
  5. You be prompted to connect computer audio. It is suggested to click Join with Computer Audio and use a USB headset
  6. Once the Zoom Meeting launches, click on  Record > Record to the Cloud
  7. You will see a box showing that you are recording
  8. Once you are finished recording, hit the Stop Recording button
  9. You will be prompted to confirm. Click Yes
  10. A message will appear advising that you will receive an email when the recording is ready.
  11. The email will have the subject line Cloud Recording - "Name of Topic" is now available where Name of Topic is what you named the session when it was created
  12. Videos are will be available for download from Zoom for the next 30 days. After 30 days they are deleted. Navigate to zoom.charlotte.edu and sign in with your NinerNET credentials. Once logged in, look for Recordings in the left-hand navigation menu.

  13. Click on Recordings, ensure you are on the Cloud recordings tab, find the recording you want to download, click on the three dots to the far right, and then click on the Download button. The video will be downloaded as an MP4 to your computer's Downloads folder.

  14.  Navigate back to Canvas and to Studio. Click on the Blue +Create button and choose Add Media

  15. Click the Blue Browse Files button, navigate to your downloaded MP4 video file from Zoom, Open the file, and Add the video to Studio. 
    Note: Video processing time is about 1/8 of the length of the video.

  16. The video will now appear in your Studio Library and can be embedded in any Canvas element that has a Rich Content Editor (RCE), including:
    - Pages
    - Announcements
    - Discussions
    - Assignments
