How do I record a Zoom meeting session?

  • Meetings can be either recorded to the cloud or locally (to your computer)
  • Hosts can grant permissions to participants to record meetings locally.  These permissions are turned off by default.
  1. Press the Record button in the Zoom meeting control toolbar

Restrictions and limitations for recording:

  • Do not record meetings where any sensitive Personal Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI) is shared or discussed. This includes social security numbers (SSNs), student education records, dates of birth, medical records, or personal contact information. 

  • Take time to familiarize yourself with the current UNC Charlotte data retention policies when storing meeting recordings.

  • Cloud recordings will be automatically deleted (moved to Trash) after a set amount of time...

    • Faculty & Staff cloud recordings will be deleted after 30 days

    • Student cloud recordings will be deleted after 14 days

  • Cloud recordings will be permanently deleted from Trash after an additional 30 days
