How do I request a Google Cloud Platform computing instance for class?

Google provides credits, classroom curriculum, and other teaching resources to be use in their Google Cloud Platform (GCP).  More information on their GCP offerings can be found here.

  1. The instructor needs to apply for credits from Google
  2. After submitting the form to Google, the instructor will receive three redemption codes: one each for the instructor, course TAs, and students
  3. The instructor, TAs, and each student must redeem the codes to claim the GCP credits by either...
    1. Clicking the Redeem Now button in the email OR
    2. Go to this Google website and manually enter the code​​​​
    3. NOTE:
      1. Users must be very careful NOT to apply the credits to their personal accounts (non @uncc.edu accounts).
      2. If the credits get misapplied, Google will not provide any assistance.
      3. Users may want to use a Google Chrome incognito instance to ensure they are properly logged into their UNC Charlotte Google account.
  4. This will create a Billing Project for each account completing the redemption (No credit card is required for this process).
  5. Users must create a project and associate their project to their account
  6. Additional notes specific to UNC Charlotte...
    1. Please use the randomize Project ID functionality.  Project IDs will be unique across Google.  The Project Name can be renamed and changed as needed.
    2. Any use of this service would be as a pilot.   Details of the permissions and processes are evolving.
